"Thanks to the trust and opportunities I’ve been given, I’ve grown into the role I’m in today"

Irini - Supervisor Accounts Payable at Renewi

Irini Kairis started at Renewi six years ago as a temporary employee. At the time, she was still studying for a completely different profession, but soon found that her heart lay elsewhere after all. What started as a side job grew into a promising career.
Her first duties were administrative in nature: sorting and filing paper receipts in the archive. Not long after, she got the chance to move up to the Billing department. There, she handled customer queries and complaints about invoices. Within a year, she was even given the responsibility of monitoring these cases. That was a nice step forward.
"I learnt a lot during that period. It was intensive, but also very interesting to see the work on site and translate it into efficient central processes."
That commitment did not go unnoticed. Two years ago, Irini got the chance to lead the team where she herself once started. A new challenge she seized with both hands.
"Leadership is different every day, but I get a lot of satisfaction from it. It energises me to guide my team, support them and achieve results together."
Irini is also active outside work. She enjoys dancing, taking long walks and is committed to a cleaner living environment through the Mooimakers. At home, she shares her life with her partner and their eight-month-old son. Balance is important to her. And she finds exactly that at Renewi.
"What I appreciate about Renewi is that it really looks at who you are and what you want. You get the chance to grow here. Thanks to the trust and space I was given, I am where I am today. And I look forward with great enthusiasm to what the future holds."

A key role in process centralisation
When obligations administration was centralised in Lommel 3.5 years ago, Irini seized her chance. She was involved in transferring regional practices to the central team and travelled regularly to different sites to get a good understanding of local exceptions. Together with her supervisor, she worked on optimising these processes."I learnt a lot during that period.
