Jimmy: DevOps Engineer at Renewi 

Jimmy Klerkx, 38, lives in Rosmalen with his girlfriend Eline, their 2.5-year-old son Bodhi and their dog Teddy. In his spare time, he builds, repairs and flies FPV drones. He also has an out-of-control Lego collection that started when he received a set for his birthday three years ago. He also enjoys watching films and series. 

Why Jimmy chose a career at Renewi 

"I started as a consultant in ERP and preferred an in-house position. At my previous employer, the IT team was very small, which limited my opportunities. I was looking for a larger organisation where I could develop myself further. Renewi approached me, and after a good conversation with the manager and the team, I knew this was the right choice." 
 Jimmy started his career at Renewi as an Application Services Consultant and progressed to the role of DevOps Engineer in the Logistics team, where he has been working since 1 July. 
  

IT transformation: working on Dynamics and agile collaboration 

"Renewi is in full swing when it comes to IT. We are implementing Microsoft Dynamics to replace the old ERP package, which is a large undertaking. We now work in an agile way, with operations and IT working more closely together and delivering features faster." 
  

How IT contributes to more efficient and sustainable operations 

"IT plays a supporting role by facilitating the operation with the right tools and insightful data. This increases efficiency and reduces 'waste' in all areas. One example is that a truck gains higher uptime through automation such as automatic weighing and more efficient routes, which means fewer vehicles are needed for the same work." 
  

Balancing homeworking and collaboration 

"There is a good balance between working from home and being in the office. To maintain team spirit and create a fun working atmosphere, we work in the office three days a week. Which days those are is largely up to us as a team. We have a lot of freedom in how and when we tackle issues because we all have the same goal in mind."
