Responsible for planning and management

As Head of Transport, Koen is responsible for planning and managing the driving staff. This means a lot of daily contact with colleagues in the office and on the shop floor. It is precisely this human aspect that makes his work so valuable.
"The best part of my job is working together. By listening to people and giving them space to share their ideas, we move forward together. Without the commitment of our drivers and colleagues in the field, we achieve nothing."

Focus on sustainability and innovation in transport

Sustainability plays an important role for Koen within his job. He sees Renewi as an organisation that thinks ahead and is actively working on cleaner transport, for example by deploying electric vehicles. That combination of innovation and social relevance appeals to him.

Team development and working atmosphere

His team currently consists of 13 colleagues across three locations. One of his priorities is to build a cohesive team, even if they do not always work in the same place. He visits the sites regularly and encourages team activities, such as Friday afternoon drinks, to strengthen the bonds between them.
