As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be at the forefront of defining and implementing data governance strategies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish policies, ensure compliance, and drive a culture of accountability and trust in data management. You will be responsible for developing governance frameworks (including roles, responsibilities and ownership), Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory data requirements and facilitation of cross-departmental collaboration for consistent data use and standards. What will you do?

  • Define and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to manage data assets across the organization;
  • Ensure data handling practices align with regulatory and compliance requirements, including GDPR and other data privacy standards;
  • Work closely with legal, IT, and business teams to monitor data compliance and address data governance issues;
  • Together with the Data Quality Specialist establish and oversee data quality metrics and standards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity;
  • Act as a liaison between IT, business units, and data owners to improve data management practices and foster a data-driven culture;
  • Lead data governance meetings, workshops, and training sessions to educate colleagues on best practices;
  • Support data governance tools and technologies, promoting their effective use to streamline data governance processes.

What do we ask of you?

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience;
  • At least 3 years of data governance, data management, or similar experience;
  • Proven knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica) and understanding of data privacy regulations as GDPR;
  • Experienced with and a good understanding of common data frameworks like DAMA-DMBOK;
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail and the ability to develop and enforce data quality standards;
  • Experience and/ or affinity with Agile way of working;
  • You are proficient in communication in English and preferably also Dutch;
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and explain the importance of data from a business perspective across all levels of the organization.
