Bert – Global Business Process Owner 

In 2017, van Gansewinkel and Shanks companies merged and continued under the Renewi name, creating a powerful, complementary organisation. For me personally, this was a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a growing company.

I started in 2017 in the role of General Ledger manager at the Shared Service Centre. In this role, I was responsible for the day-to-day financial ins and outs, such as reporting figures, filing tax returns and supporting the controllers. I also had a project-based role in improving processes.

After five years in this role, I transitioned to my current position as Global Business Process Owner in 2022 and then as Process Lead for Finance within the Future Fit programme. In this, together with a team of business and IT experts, I focus on redesigning financial processes and systems to future-proof the organisation.

In this role, I bring different divisions together to jointly set up new, streamlined processes and a suitable data structure. My goal is not just to improve existing processes, but really to lay a completely new, future-proof foundation that will enable us to work better and more efficiently, giving a better experience to our employees and customers.

Besides my work, I find it important to have a good balance. I live close to my family and like to be outdoors, whether that is exercising, gardening or travelling. I have also become increasingly aware of sustainability and try to contribute to this both privately and at work.

What makes me most proud are the achievements of my team in recent years. Despite the pressure of deadlines and projects, we always managed to keep the daily operations running while making improvements. I find that drive and togetherness really special.
