Sustainability. Everyone is talking about - it’s on the news, in the papers and all over the internet! Here at Renewi, we don’t just talk about it, we act. As our new Environmental Compliance Officer, you will support our contracts by identifying and minimising environmental impacts from our Mechanical Biological Treatment facilities. You will provide technical support in the monitoring, sampling, operation, and optimisation of our facilities biofilters including the Wet Chemical Scrubber.

Within this role you will provide technical support on managing the sites pest control programme and take a lead in carrying out daily on-site and off-site environmental inspections and assessments.

This role also involves you investigating any complaints which are received and the submission of environmental reports to the Environment Agency & other relevant parties. You will also be heavily involved in the Interpretation, Reporting and Monitoring of Environmental Parameters in accordance with Site Permits and Contractual Requirements.


Your key responsibilities:
· Submission of the Quarterly Emissions Report, Annual Biofilter Monitoring Report, Fly Monitoring Trigger exceedances and the finalising of the Annual Environmental Monitoring report to the environment agency
· Ensure Site Operations are in compliance with Environmental Permits and other associated environmental legislation
· Creating a working relationship with regulatory officers (Environmental Agency) and managing communications with regulatory bodies with assistance from technical manager and site Manager
· Provide technical support to the Cumbria contract where required
· Assist sites and manage on site pest control functions

Essential criteria for this role:
• BSc Hons Degree in a relevant discipline particularly with a strong biological and chemical understanding
• Ability to present data and recommendations competently and professionally at all levels, e.g. to site plant operations, contract management and Regulators.
• Able to work in a time critical process environment with exceptional attention to detail.
• In depth understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance with knowledge of dealing with Regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency
• Good organisation skills and the ability to forward plan and have a proactive management approach.
• Full UK Driving Licence
