Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Shift Maintenance Engineer
Salary: up to £50,993.64
5am – 5pm and 5pm – 5am (Four on, four off rotation)
Jenkins Lane, Barking

In this role, you will form part of our engineering team onsite contributing to the internal & external preventative, reactive and corrective maintenance work on our plant equipment. Our goal as a team is to continuously improve machine reliability, availability & capacity to manufacturing standards.


Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.


Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and this role is no difference. You will liaise with the SHEQ team to resolve H&S, environmental, internal audits, GMP, COSHH and ISO quality issues. You’ll ensure all compliance checks are complete and correctly filed ensuring our site is operating in full compliance with UK regulations and Global manufacturing standards.



Your key responsibilities:
• Undertaking planned preventative maintenance and lubrication schedule on plant assets such as: pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves
• Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and to Schedule planned service maintenance. Request & check RAMS, Induct personnel, Provide permits to work and oversee contractor works onsite to ensure work is carried out safely
• Adhere to all Site and Renewi Group Health and Safety Regulations and required to attend Health and Safety, Fire and Welfare Training both on and off site
• Actively participate in Projects, continuous improvement, and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
• Liaise with external contractors for reactive maintenance and to Schedule planned service maintenance. Request & check RAMS, induct personnel, provide permits to work and oversee contractor works onsite to ensure work is carried out safely

• Hold a minimum CGLI or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Experienced in working with and applying isolations and isolation systems LOTOTO (Mechanical and Electrical)
• Knowledge of various mechanical drive arrangements, including simplex, duplex, chain, belt, gearboxes and transmission equipment is required
• Ability to replace shafts seals and bearings, pipework, fittings, and couplings
• Previous experience of problem solving and electrical fault diagnosis techniques
• Confident with valves, solenoids replacements and basic pneumatics
• Able to read schemes and drawings
