Jan - DevOps Engineer CRM
After completing his studies in Commercial Economics, Jan started his career at a Payroll organization in Breda. In 2021 he made the move to Renewi, where he initially started working within the Salesforce team as Application Services Consultant. Since April 1, 2024, Jan has held the position of DevOps Engineer, a role in which he can make full use of his technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
"Working at Renewi means working in a fully Agile environment. We operate in two-week sprints, which allows us to respond quickly and effectively to the needs of the business. During our daily stand-ups, we discuss the progress of our projects, identify any obstacles and look for solutions together. This daily interaction with my colleagues is not only instructive but also crucial to our success,” said Jan.
The Customer 360 view project
One project Jan is particularly proud of involves the implementation of a Customer 360 view for the Dutch market. "This project started with a request from the business: a complete overview of customer interactions for the Customer Service department. By working closely with the business, we were able to translate this request into concrete user stories. These user stories describe the needs of the users in detail, such as “as a customer service employee, I want an overview of the last five customer interactions so that I have quick insight into the customer history”. We then developed a solution design and aligned it with the business through prototypes and proof of concepts (POCs)."
Jan emphasizes the importance of the standard solutions within Salesforce and the need to adapt them to the specific needs of the business. "Salesforce offers a wide range of standard functionalities, such as the Service Cloud and the Sales Cloud. However, these standard solutions are often not sufficient for specific business needs. Therefore, we customize these solutions through configuration and custom development. This requires in-depth knowledge of Salesforce and the ability to come up with creative and effective solutions."The balance between autonomy and teamwork
What Jan particularly appreciates about his work at Renewi is the balance between autonomy and teamwork. "I regularly work from home but also regularly come to the office, for example, for during the sprint change day. During these days we look back at the past sprint and plan the next two weeks. This alternation between working from home and meeting in the office provides the perfect balance between focus and collaboration."
